And all the kids cried out
FULL NAME: Wanda Maximoff
NICKNAMES: Witch, Kid
DOB: July 20th
PARENTS: Magda Eisenhardt (biological, deceased), Max Eisenhardt (biological), Django & Marya Maximoff (adoptive, deceased)
SIBLINGS: Pietro Maximoff (twin, deceased), Lorna Dane (half-sister)
✺ Wanda has very conflicting feelings towards Tony; she respects his attempts to help, to make up for his foolishness and his loyalty to people, however she thinks he's destructive force that is hell bent of screwing up at every chance he possibly gets. she's not sure how so many good intentions can go so very wrong.
✺ raised Romani, Wanda is far more used to a very nomadic life; while Sokovia was her home, she didn't always live there. it was just where they were when her parents died. as a result of that, Sokovia became more like a home than anywhere else.
✺ despite being force fed the notions of the corrupt values of America by the HYDRA run riots, Wanda finds that Captain America holds more value as a person than the ideals of a country she believes does not even know what it stands for itself. as a result, her loyalty is almost unerringly placed in Steve rather than anything else.
✺ having finally gotten to the point where she no long fears her powers, Wanda has been using them for almost everything she needs to do; picking things up, putting things places, getting someone's attention. being unable to use her abilities, even for a short while, has Wanda clinging to them tightly.
✺ despite her previous disregard for any kind of privacy, Wanda no longer simply reads her team mates minds; these people are friends to her, the last remaining family she has, additionally she respects them enough to leave their minds alone. she's also a little afraid of what she might find if she went looking too hard.
✺ Wanda likes to try and stay true to her heritage, this involves maintaining a less Americanised appearance, staying with her layers and her shawls, the numerous rings and woven bracelets she wears. she hasn't learned to be materialistic, although she has had plenty of belongings bestowed on her. she prefers to try and keep things minimal, although she is learning a love of music.
✺ although there are some differences, Wanda finds herself greatly admiring Black Widow. the training she's had from the spy and the steady presence of the other woman on the team before their split, grounded Wanda with a role model; not so much a mothering or sisterly figure, but a strong and independent female role model to watch and at times attempt to emulate. Wanda respects Natasha's strength and dedication more than anything really.
Goddamn right, you should be scared of me
✺ Resilient Stubbornness; Wanda Maximoff is barely in her mid-twenties and has already seen so much destruction and loss that it's a wonder she gets out of bed in the morning. But she does. She's seen her parents die, she's faced her own end for days on end at a wrong move, she's seen her people hurt and slaughtered, her own body and mind put through untold agonies that no one but she and her brother survived, and she's still there. She still vies to see the good in people, to see a better world, to help. She has a strength of character that is quiet and demure, but a force of nature underneath.
Wanda is not meek, and she will not give up. She takes powers that could rip apart anyone and hones them, learns them, masters them. Because she will not lose herself in this chaos, she has a world to help protect now that her eyes are wide open to the lies she's been force fed.
✺ Emotional Imbalance; what comes from her resilience, however, is a storm of unending emotions. There's strength and determination, yes, but she is also prone to massive guilt, despair and insecurity from her own past choices. Wanda is exceptionally reliant on solid ground, she needs to stay centered or her powers could lash out. But stamping down on all that constantly is not a healthy thing, nor does it help her deal with it.
The wisdom of experience seems to help, Wanda is very open to talking about these things, welcoming advice from older friends who know the difficulties that these traits can bring; when they fail, people get hurt. It just means they can't fail.
✺ Heart of Gold; Wanda might not seem it, partly because of her drive to destroy the Avengers and Tony Stark in particular and how it shaped her life, but she is a compassionate and caring person. She feels very deeply, any cause she takes on her shoulders, she fully commits to and gives her all.
She never wanted to kill Stark, not really. But her anger and distrust were enough to fuel her to want to see him stopped, to see him pay for the things he did that she never truly saw him care for, his misdeeds that he never answered. Wanda's anger was justified, she watched her parents die and spent days believing the next breath could be her last, while being stared at by the mocking Stark Industries logo on a shell that decimated her life in one swoop.
But Wanda was able to put that aside, to work with the man she hated most of her life and stop mass genocide because it was the right thing to do. Wanda is not looking to hurt innocent people, she's looking to stop the destruction, not add to it. Walking away from Ultron upon realising his end goal was the end of humanity allowed Wanda to evaluate this about herself.
✺ Lost Lion; never for a second believe that Wanda is the scared little lamb, that she's the lost damsel that needs rescuing. Wanda may be somewhat adrift, looking for purpose, but she'd a lioness at heart, fierce and resolute. She's uncertain of her future, unsure just who she is at times, but she is not tiny and needing protection at all. She does appreciate the direction and guidance her team mates can provide, but she loathes being told what she should and should not do.
✺ Unapologetic Snoop; barring her team mates, Wanda finds it absolutely fascinating to listen in on the goings on around her. Her telepathy is a near constant white noise, something she can shut out when she focuses on it, otherwise, it's right there at the back of her head. She's gotten used to it, and while she occasionally seems a bit spacey or distracted because of this, she doesn't always focus on blocking it out.
She's just too curious about everything around her and the memories that flicker through to completely block herself from people.
✺ Loyal to Belief; Wanda's loyalty is not to a single one person, with the occasional exception to this, Wanda puts her faith and her trust in the concept of things; freedom -to choose what to do, to choose who to be, to make those decisions yourself; change -either of mind or values, or just the hope that people and the world can change, can move forward past the despair and grief that is constantly struggling around; righteousness -Wanda once thought she could gain justice from revenge, that the two were the same, she understands so much better now that they are not, and that revenge will just ruin the world quicker than the actions of ignorant men.
I'm bigger than my body, I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons, I'm bigger than these bones
✺ MCU Wiki up to Civil War
✺ Following the escape from the Raft, Wanda choose to remain close to Steve, returning to Wakanda where she spent a lot of her time focusing on her powers. Mastering her strength and confidence with them. She was adamant that she would not succumb to her own fear of what she was capable of.
✺ After the Equality Act rendered the Accords null, and the others were deciding to move back to America, with nothing else for her, Wanda went with them, looking into her own place near Brooklyn for some sense of familiarity at least.
✺ She is yet to decide what she wants to carry on doing with her life now, if it includes being an Avenger despite the previous misgivings, and if she's prepared to forgive and move on (but not forget) when it comes to the others.
"Please stop, you're scaring me."
CODENAME: Scarlet Witch
ABILITIES: ✺ Psionics: As a result of exposure to the cosmic energies from the Scepter, Wanda acquired an array of psionic powers, which manifest in the form of reddish, glowing energy currents and mist-like shapes, much like fire or gas. This is a form of Chaos Magic. When using her power, her irises sometimes glow a dark, reddish color, especially when she concentrates and uses her mental abilities. Her powers allowed her to control the motion of any target, even allowing her to freeze and contain an explosion for a short time. The currents she creates can control and distort molecules and forms of physical forces, such as friction, kinetic energy, pressure, state of matter and even gravity.
✺ Telekinesis: Maximoff has the ability to mentally move, levitate and manipulate objects. She can also affect and control particles and molecules which allows her to manipulate matter and energy, as well as physical forces such as kinetic energy, friction, pressure, state of matter and even gravity. A common effect of this is her abilities to control and remove motion from a target. Maximoff uses this power to create shields, stop moving items, throw people backwards and to tear things in half or more. Her emotions are linked heavily to her telekinesis, often making it marginally unstable.
✺ Psionic Energy: Maximoff can project energy blasts, waves and bolts by projecting her own psionic and telekinetic energy, or gathering particles, molecules and physical forces into a contained space, allowing her to either blow, destroy, push/pull or direct her hits at her enemies. These contained spaces could be in any shape and form and outlined her telekinetic spheres of influence, making her telekinesis visible and in reddish color. When a target of hers is hit with her energy, she can use her telekinesis to inflict further damage.
✺ Levitation: Wanda is able to sue this power to move herself through the air and simulate flight. She can also use it to lessen her landing from a high distance.
✺ Energy Field: Maximoff is able to create a highly durable barrier, shield or wall of energy, that she can shape and deform in order to grab and break apart targets telekinetically, or to protect from enemy fire, or cover from projectiles. She can alter this field at any time, in places or all at once, to alter it's purpose with her powers.
✺ Telepathy: Maximoff can read minds or mentally communicate and experience memories and thoughts of others or project her own thoughts through a neuro-electric interface that gives her telepathy. When using her power, her irises sometimes glow a dark reddish color, especially when she concentrate it on certain targets.
✺ Mental/Fear Manipulation: Maximoff was able to deploy a form of mental inertness upon others through a form of hypnosis. This power is possible through a neuro-electric interface, just as her telepathy is. When this ability is in use, Maximoff's reddish energy takes a more mist-like form, floating into the head of the victim in the form of neurons. The effects also distort the victim's iris coloration, causing them to shine a dark reddish color. This also allows her to control other people's actions to a degree, stopping short of forcing someone to injure or kill themselves. With her power to manipulate the mind, she could use her power to elicit fear or emotional pain in a person in the form of nightmarish hallucinations that could stun and weaken even an individual as powerful as Thor. These visions can depict things that a person fears, regrets, or general disturbances, though the nature of it is not up to Wanda. She does seem to be able to know what her victim is seeing and be inside the vision with them, seemingly invisible to them.
✺ Multilingualism: Wanda can speak her native Sokovian, as well as fluent English (though with a heavy Sokovian accent).
